Springtime in Houston brings warm, wet weather, and along with that comes the resurgence of ants and termites. If you spot a swarm in or near your home, call Green Team Pest. Our experienced technicians will thoroughly inspect your home and create a customized treatment plan to eliminate the problem at its source.

Ant and Termite Control

Termites

Spring termite swarms cause concern among local residents. However, while disconcerting, a swarm inside your home can actually alert you to an otherwise unknown problem. Termites can wreak havoc on your home without your knowledge because of their subterranean behavior; so a swarm is actually a blessing in disguise because it alerts homeowners to the problem.

Termite Treatment

If you find evidence of a swarm in or near your home, contact Green Team right away. We will thoroughly inspect your home and yard. If an infestation exists, we’ll find it and identify potential attractants. Then, we will design a customized termite treatment plan based on your specific needs.

Ants

In addition to termite swarms, many species of ants also swarm in spring.

Carpenter Ants

There are more than one dozen carpenter ant species in Texas. These ants nest in rotting wood and underneath shingles, siding, fascia boards, etc. Carpenter ants like to tunnel into the structural timbers of homes to form nesting galleries.

Odorous House Ants

The odorous house ant is common throughout the U.S. and gains its name from the unusual odor it emits when crushed. These ants tend to invade homes during rainy seasons, in search of food and a dry nesting site. Fortunately, odorous house ants do not sting and generally only bite if a person disturbs their nest.

Fire Ants

Fire ants are the most dangerous and destructive ants around. There are four different species found in Texas, all of which sting their victims. In addition to stinging, fire ants are also known to damage electrical systems and appliances, and ruin landscaping. If you notice mounds near your home, contact our team immediately. We will quickly determine which kinds of ants are invading your home or property, and treat the problem accordingly.
